RC sat in a large, comfortable lounge chair holding a yellow and white book in his hand with a cartoon man in glasses on it, the title being ‘Training Montages for Dummies.’ Nearby a serene fireplace glowed quaintly, lightly illuminating the mellow surroundings. He seemed transfixed by the book, not noticing anything else around him. “Introduction: A training montage may or may not aid you in accomplishing whatever goal you have set out to do, but will ensure you look good with dramatic flare while engaged in it. The music of choice ma—Oh! Oh my, oh dear, I didn’t hear you come in. Welcome, welcome!” RC said aloud before lowering the book and fixating his gaze warmly on his visitor (you!).
“As some of you may have noticed, Collin has not been around very often as of late. For this he wishes to apologize. He has been very busy lately, and when he is online he is more often than not doing boring, tedious things that are not really worth mentioning at this time. Some of you may have also heard rumors that his Internet will be turned off come January and, unfortunately, this is true; meaning that, come 2010, Collin will be on an indefinite hiatus and not posting at all, whatsoever. Oh, how terribly dreadful, I’m afraid. So sad.
Now you may be asking yourself ‘Self, if Collin had time to make this post, why did he not reply to my thread?’ Well, that is true; but one, he wanted to address his not-here-ness, and two, when he does post he wants to ensure he has the time to make a hearty round of posts, and not a single post which will leave other members thinking: ‘Member, why did he post a reply in [blank] thread but not in the thread we have going? That bastard!’ So yes, Collin will try to get as many posts as he can in before January 1st, but in the meantime he doesn’t want favoritism. Even though he clearly likes—“ Some sort of audio static garbles out what he says for a moment. “—the best. Just don’t tell anyone else, ok? You may hurt their feelings, and we wouldn’t want that!
Take comfort that any notion of Collin disappearing entirely are false; he will be back, it’s only a matter of time. So until then, he would like to apologize, through me since I have nothing better to do, for his absence and hope that you all have a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Thank you.”
Looking away from his guest he again raised the book to eye level, reading from it intently.
