Colorless names are individuals who do not yet RP as non-original characters.
The list is sorted alphabetically, including genre, franchise, and character. The exception is the 'Miscellaneous' category, in which a character does not fall into any specific genre, which is at the bottom of the list. Franchises are most commonly listed by their original source. So if, for example, you’re looking for Batman characters on the list, they will be listed under the 'Comics' genre, regardless of whether the characters being played are from the comics, animated series, or films. The easiest method to seeing whether or not a character you’re interested is on the list or not is to press Ctril+F and search by their name.
Note that this list only contains unique franchise characters, and does not contain original characters, fan characters, or characters which are finite. For example, if a player were to have a Pokémon Trainer character who uses a Meowth, said Meowth would not appear on the claims list, because there are infinite Meowths available considering it is a Pokémon species, and not a character. If, however, the Meowth is the one owned by Team Rocket, and is hence a unique character unto itself, it will be listed. In all other cases, finite characters remain unlisted because it makes no difference how many players play as them.
The time clause is a rule we enforce here on MU to prevent players from 'hoarding' a character account that they’re not actively using. This is particularly harmful when a player joins, makes one or two posts, and then loses interest and never returns. If a character has not made an in-character post in over one month (averaging at roughly 30 days) then that account may generally be claimed by another interested member. Out-of-character posts do not count toward resetting the time clause: only genuine, in-character posts. Accounts are not outright deleted when the time clause goes into effect: the account will remain in the current owner’s custody until another member requests it.
It’s important to point out that just because an account has not been active for 30 days, that is not always justification for the time clause. Instances are evaluated on an individual-to-individual basis by the staff. An account may be inactive for personal reasons, such as a player being ill, very busy, etc. An account may also be inactive due to a lack of progression in threads they’re involved with. If a character has not had an in-character for post for 30+ days, and it is because the player is waiting on someone else, then their account will not become up for grabs. Certain characters may also be safeguarded from the time clause for special reasons, due to a site feature (such as the Dark Sun) or because they are involved in a specific plot. Original characters and fan characters are not subject to the time clause, period.
Characters who are within the time clause’s effects will be branded to reduce confusion, and marked with a red star. Any character with a ★ beside their name may be claimed by another player. If you see this mark beside one of your own characters, and you wish to keep them safe from potentially being claimed by another player, then you need to post as them. If you’re unable to for any reason, or feel that you should be exempt from the time clause due to valid reasons, contact a staff member and we will review your situation. Muse death and laziness are not valid excuses, so keep that in mind before contacting the staff.

• Star Legends •
- ★ - A red star signifies that the character has been inactive, and may be claimed
- ★ - A violet star means that the player currently plays as the character, but that they are willing to allow another player to claim it
- ★ - A lime green star means that the character shares an account with another/other character(s), rather than having a unique character account
- ★ - A gold star means the character is safeguarded, and is exempt from the time clause
